What's hindering progress
Urban Expansion
The ratio of urban (red), agricultural (orange), and natural (green) land has shifted substantially over the past century, as this animation depicts. Notice how much urban land has expanded, which has consequently shrunk agricultural land. This results in more paved surfaces and less land on which farmers can spread manure, both of which can lead to more phosphorus runoff.
