A reformed landscape
The Water Security Act of 2040 redesigned how the United States governs its freshwater resources. It created the Nested Watersheds framework, which gives authority over freshwater to the country's major watersheds. This new system has transformed Yahara's landscape, as seen from this view of farmland north of Lake Mendota. Grasslands, wetlands, and forests have replaced thousands of cropland acres, and farms are smaller with more diverse crops.
